Program details

Overview

The Parts Technician Apprenticeship is a three-year Red Seal trade program delivered through the Weekly Apprenticeship Training System. Apprentices attend one day of classroom instruction at Lethbridge Polytechnic each week, in a hyflex format that allows attendance online or in person, while completing on-the-job training with an employer for the rest of the week. The program prepares apprentices for parts-management roles serving wholesale groups, retail businesses, and warehouse distributors, covering inventory, ordering, and customer service for automotive and equipment parts. Apprentices must be registered with an Alberta employer to progress through the three levels of training. On completing the program and passing the Red Seal interprovincial examination, graduates receive certified Journeyman papers, recognized across Canada. The credential qualifies graduates for parts-counter and inventory-management roles across several industries. The program is not open to international students, since it requires concurrent paid employment with an Alberta-registered training employer throughout its duration.
