BA/BS in Physical and Health Education

Physical and Health Education is a Bachelor of Education program in McGill's Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education, preparing students to teach in elementary and high school settings. The curriculum combines theory and practice coursework with field experiences in teaching, spanning topics including anatomy, biomechanics, curriculum development, educational psychology, health, motor development, nutrition, sport psychology, and adapted physical activity, alongside practical physical activity classes such as aquatics, soccer, and dance. Sample courses include Contemporary Issues in Education, Health Education, Outdoor Education, and Motor Development. Instruction takes place largely within the McGill Sports Complex, with access to teaching labs and research facilities. Graduates are prepared for roles such as physical and health education teacher, coach, sports program supervisor, and community health educator. Applicants apply through the Faculty of Education.
