Overview
The PhD in Interdisciplinary Cancer Sciences (ICSP) is offered by the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and provides structured training across the cancer research continuum, combining coursework, research, and cohort-based activities. The program draws on about 70 cancer research faculty from 17 departments across four research pillars: cancer biology, cancer therapeutics and diagnostics, cancer etiology, prevention and prognosis, and psychosocial oncology. Students specialize within a chosen discipline while gaining a broader understanding of cancer research across the continuum, developing skills to synthesize knowledge across disciplines and address research gaps through collaboration. The program is open to students from backgrounds including biomedical sciences, epidemiology, public health, biostatistics, nursing, psychology, physical and occupational therapy, computer science, and social work. Patient perspectives are integrated through testimonials and a mentorship program. Admission is in the Fall term.
