Overview
The Master of Engineering in Mining Engineering (Non-Thesis) is a course-based graduate program offered by the Department of Mining and Materials Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering, one of the oldest mining programs in Canada, founded in 1871. Courses are selected in consultation with each student to build knowledge and skill in areas such as stochastic mine planning, mineral economics, mine reliability, asset management, geomechanics, mine design, numerical modelling, and mine multiphysics. Graduates pursue careers in mining operations, financial and consultancy services related to mining, heavy equipment manufacturing, research institutions, or government agencies. Admission requires an eligible bachelor's degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA (out of 4.0), plus McGill's English-language proficiency requirement for applicants whose first language is not English. The program admits students in the Fall term.
