McMaster's MA in Globalization Studies is a course-based degree examining the political, social, economic, cultural, discursive and theoretical dimensions of globalization and how these processes affect communities and the environment. Coursework and research draw on topics including contemporary culture, diasporic, transnational and multicultural communities, global governance, international trade and finance, and social, environmental and labour issues. Students complete the degree through a major research paper or project rather than a thesis, working closely with a faculty supervisor drawn from across the participating social science and humanities departments. The program is offered full-time or part-time and normally takes one year to complete on a full-time basis. Admission requires an Honours bachelor's degree or equivalent, and the program admits for September entry.

Admission Requirements: Admission requires an Honours bachelor's degree or equivalent. The program does not publish a specific minimum grade average of its own; international applicants must otherwise meet McMaster's general graduate English-language requirement (IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with a minimum of 6.0 in each component, or an equivalent TOEFL iBT, Duolingo, PTE or CAEL score). The MA is course-based with a major research paper or project option, offered full-time or part-time, and admits for September entry.
