Overview

This certificate program at NorQuest College prepares students for entry-level administrative and office-support roles. Coursework covers using Microsoft and Google productivity applications, organizing business events and travel, business communication and document preparation such as emails and memos, records and database management, customer relations, teamwork and conflict resolution, workplace ethics, fundamental accounting principles, and running online and hybrid meetings using cloud-based tools. The certificate is completed over two or three terms and is delivered in blended or fully online formats from the Edmonton campus. Students choose one of two optional electives: a field placement providing 150 hours of workplace experience, or a community-based learning option combining 25 hours of service-learning with 20 hours of instruction. The program suits students preparing for office-based roles such as office coordinator, executive assistant, billing clerk, or customer service associate, and is applicable across sectors including government, banking, insurance, not-for-profit organizations, retail, hospitality, and construction.

The next intake begins January 2027; the programme does not currently accept international students.

Application Details

Start Date: January 2027
Application Deadline: Domestic applicants (Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or refugees) apply to NorQuest College through ApplyAlberta: applications open October 1 of the prior year for the Fall intake, February 1 for Winter, and June 1 for Spring/Summer, with the domestic deadline set as the first Friday of the term itself and offers made on a first-qualified, first-admitted basis subject to seat availability. International applicants apply through NorQuest's own virtual admissions system and face earlier fixed deadlines: June 9 for Fall, October 15 for Winter, and February 9 for Spring/Summer entry. NorQuest publishes this schedule as a recurring policy rather than year-specific dates, and does not describe admission as fully rolling, since seats are limited by program. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
