Therapeutic Recreation is a two-year diploma program at NorQuest College that prepares students to deliver client-centred care using recreation and leisure activities to enhance quality of life. The curriculum examines the effects of recreation and leisure on individual wellness and trains students to work with diverse client populations within multidisciplinary healthcare teams. The program runs six terms of in-person, full-time instruction and includes two practicums totalling 480 hours of supervised work experience. Graduates receive Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA) professional membership at the diploma-holder level and are prepared for roles across healthcare and community recreation settings. Students may begin in the fall or winter term.
