In the Millwork and Carpentry program, students gain hands-on skills in the design and construction of wood structures, cabinets, shelving units and furniture. The certificate covers two traditional woodworking trades: cabinetmaking and carpentry, with an emphasis on tools and safety. Students specialize in one stream. The cabinetmaking stream introduces construction of upper and lower casework, complete with doors, drawers, mouldings, hardware and a range of trade materials. The carpentry stream provides an introduction to residential home construction, covering foundations, framing and finishing techniques. Graduates are prepared for roles across the carpentry industry, including commercial and institutional millwork, cabinet and furniture production, commercial display work, construction carpentry, prefabricated home manufacturing, and stair and handrail manufacturing. As of the 2026/27 academic year, the program is paused and not accepting new applications.
