Overview
Dental Technology is a two-year, nationally recognized diploma program at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology that trains students to create full and partial dentures and repair crowns, bridges and orthodontic appliances, combining art and science to craft corrective dental devices. Graduates pursue careers in prosthodontics, removable partial and full dentures, and orthodontics, working as skilled dental-lab technologists who do not work directly with patients. The program suits students who want to create dental appliances without direct patient contact. It is delivered in a hybrid format on NAIT's main campus with a Fall intake. Students must meet health requirements related to skin conditions and mobility, may be required to act as patients for peers in a clinical setting, and must submit immunization records before any clinical placement, per Alberta Health Services standards for healthcare students.

Admission Requirements: Entry requires a minimum of 63% in each of Grade 12 Language Arts (English 30-2), Grade 11 Mathematics (Math 20-2), and Grade 12 Biology or Science (Biology 30 or Science 30), plus proof of English Language Proficiency (IELTS Academic 6.0 in each section, TOEFL iBT 4.0 overall with 4.0 in each section, PTE Academic 58, or Duolingo 115 overall with no sub-score under 100, among other listed tests). Applicants need basic computer literacy and must meet program health requirements related to skin conditions, mobility, and the ability to act as a patient for peers in clinical training.
