Veterinary Technology is a two-year diploma at NAIT that prepares students to work with veterinarians to diagnose, treat and prevent illness in animals. Hands-on, practical training covers nursing care, diagnostic procedures, anesthesia, surgical preparation, laboratory work and client communication, for both small and large animal practices. The program is designed to reflect current demands in the veterinary industry, so graduates leave with the expertise employers look for. Applicants must complete 40 hours of related work experience, verified by a Registered Veterinary Technologist, before the program start date, and rabies immunization is arranged through NAIT ahead of on-campus animal labs. The program runs on NAIT's Main campus with In Person delivery on a weekdays-daytime schedule, with a Fall intake. Graduates are prepared for roles at veterinary clinics, animal hospitals, research facilities, livestock operations, wildlife rehabilitation programs, diagnostic laboratories and pharmaceutical companies.
