The Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) Apprenticeship is a four-period Red Seal trade delivered through Alberta's apprenticeship system, combining technical training at Northern Lakes College with employer-based on-the-job training. First Period, offered at Northern Lakes College, covers tools and fasteners, measurement, drawings and layout, machining, and machine installation and alignment, together with legislation, communication and apprenticeship development. Apprentices continue through Second, Third and Fourth Periods, offered elsewhere in the system, to complete the trade. Training is delivered face-to-face at a Northern Lakes College campus, with student housing available at select locations. Graduates are certified as journeyperson industrial mechanics qualified to work in construction, manufacturing, processing and machine-shop settings, and on completion of all four periods can pursue a Red Seal endorsement recognized across Canada.
