The Bachelor of Health Science (Honours) in Health Sciences at Ontario Tech University is a four-year, on-campus program starting in September or January, taking a multidisciplinary approach to the physical and social determinants of health. Students build a foundation in clinical practice, research, teamwork and leadership skills relevant to careers in health administration, medicine, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and public health, weaving together physiological, sociological and epidemiological perspectives on major health issues. Within the program, students can specialize in Human Health Science, covering the biological and social factors influencing human health and disease, or Public Health, covering the factors influencing population and community health. Second-year students entering the Human Health, Public Health or Health Administration streams are eligible to add a Minor in Legal Studies from the Faculty of Social Science and Humanities.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Current Ontario secondary school students must complete the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) with six 4U or 4M credits including English (ENG4U) with a minimum grade of 60 per cent, Biology (SBI4U) and one of Advanced Functions (MHF4U), Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U) or Mathematics of Data Management (MDM4U). It is recommended that students interested in the Human Health Science specialization take Chemistry (SCH4U).
