Human Health Science is a specialization within Ontario Tech University's Health Sciences program, leading to a four-year Bachelor of Health Science (Honours) delivered on-campus with a September or January start. The specialization prepares students for health-related post-graduate study such as medicine, epidemiology and dentistry, focusing on the fundamental areas of science relating to human health and disease, including anatomy and physiology, microbiology, neurophysiology and pathophysiology. Students take upper-year electives that extend knowledge in these core areas and build a critical understanding of the Canadian health-care system. The program has an interdisciplinary focus, weaving together physiological, sociological and epidemiological perspectives on major health issues, and includes clinical placements, internships, practicum work and research study as experiential-learning components. Graduates are prepared for further study or careers across the health-care field.
