The Mechanical Engineering graduate program at Ontario Tech University is offered as a Master of Applied Science (MASc) or a Master of Engineering (MEng), covering the main areas of mechanical engineering through three fields of study: Design; Energy and Thermofluids Engineering; and Mechatronics and Manufacturing Engineering. The MASc is a research-thesis degree normally completed in about 24 months of full-time study, with entry in the September, January or May terms; the MEng is course-based or project-based and normally completed in about 16 months of full-time study, with entry in September or January. Instruction is delivered in-class at the North Oshawa campus. Applicants require a four-year honours undergraduate engineering degree in a relevant field from an accredited program, with a B average, and a B+ average preferred for MASc applicants. The program prepares graduates for advanced technical and research careers in mechanical engineering.

Admission Requirements: Applicants must hold a four-year honours undergraduate engineering degree in a relevant field from an accredited engineering program, with a minimum overall academic standing of a B (GPA of 3.0 on a 4.3 scale, or 73 to 76 per cent); a B+ average is preferred for MASc applicants. MASc applicants must also secure a faculty supervisor willing to support their research area before admission. Proof of English language proficiency is required for applicants whose first language is not English.
