Bachelor of Education

The Bachelor of Education is delivered through a partnership between the University of Calgary's Werklund School of Education and Portage College, extending degree completion in education to Alberta's Northeast region without requiring students to relocate to Calgary. The program accepts students directly from high school as well as those who have completed prior post-secondary coursework, giving it flexible entry points. It can be completed almost entirely online, with students attending a two-week summer residency on campus at the Werklund School of Education as the only mandatory in-person component. The program prepares graduates for careers teaching in primary and secondary schools across Alberta. Applicants apply directly through the University of Calgary's website, where program-specific admission requirements, course sequencing and practicum placement details are set out.
