Pre-Health Sciences Certificate

This certificate introduces students to career options across the health field and helps those undecided about a healthcare pathway explore fundamental concepts related to health. The programme builds essential academic and digital-literacy skills alongside health-related coursework, preparing students for further study in healthcare programmes. It is delivered through Portage College's Multi-Access Learning model, letting students complete the programme fully online, with the option to attend some classes in person at the Lac La Biche Campus. The programme runs over one year with a single Fall intake and is open to international students, who may qualify for a post-graduation work permit. Coursework transfers to other Alberta post-secondary institutions, including Athabasca University and the University of Alberta. Classes are based at the Lac La Biche Campus, with the online option giving students flexibility to balance study with other commitments while still meeting the same course requirements as those attending in person.
