Bachelor of Education

The Bachelor of Education is a four-year, on-campus degree that combines coursework in teaching theory with continuous classroom experience. After Year 1, students join a cohort focused on Early Years, Middle Years, or Secondary education and progress toward full-term practicums in their final years, building skills in designing inclusive lessons and leading a classroom. Admission requires specific Alberta Grade 12 course grades in English Language Arts, Social Studies, Mathematics, and an elective from designated subject groups (including fine arts, sciences, or a second language). The program is delivered full-time or part-time at Red Deer Polytechnic's Red Deer campus, with a Fall intake, and is open to both domestic and international students. Graduates who meet Alberta Education's teacher certification requirements are eligible to apply for provincial certification.
