Overview
The Advanced Accounting Diploma at Red Deer Polytechnic is a two-year program designed as a fast-track pathway toward Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation. Students progress from introductory financial accounting, business statistics, and microeconomics through business law, corporate finance, taxation, and intermediate financial and management accounting, before completing advanced coursework in auditing, business intelligence and analytics, advanced financial and management accounting, and strategic management. A Co-Op Specialization option adds a paid Co-Op Work Term to the same course sequence. The program is delivered full-time or part-time, on-campus. To graduate, students must pass all courses and achieve a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0; Co-Op students must also complete the Co-Op Work Term. Admission normally requires a four-year degree from a recognized institution.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants to the Advanced Accounting Co-op and Non-Co-op programs must hold a four-year degree in any discipline from a recognized Canadian institution or equivalent, evaluated through a recognized credential evaluation service (the CPA prefers World Education Services, with a 10-year currency requirement), along with a minimum of 65% in Math 30-2 or MATH 0300 (or equivalent), or a minimum of 60% in Math 30-1 or Math 0301.
