Diploma in Community Development

Community Development is the diploma-completion year of Red River College Polytechnic's Social Innovation and Community Development program, delivered at the Exchange District Campus in Winnipeg. Admission requires successful completion of the program's foundational first year. The curriculum uses experiential, project-based learning, with faculty and students collaborating on course content, instruction, multi-course projects, and work-placement experiences. The year comprises eight courses and two six-week work placements, with significant online components supporting flexible study alongside in-person and placement-based learning. Students are required to have a personal laptop for coursework. Graduates are prepared for community development roles supporting social innovation, community planning, and non-profit or public-sector initiatives that call for project coordination and community engagement skills, building on the foundation-year training shared with the wider Social Innovation and Community Development program.
