Electrical Engineering Technology is a 28-month diploma that trains students for entry-level work as engineering technologists in the electrical industry, covering design, installation, maintenance, production, and technical sales and support. Coursework includes programmable logic controllers, variable frequency motor drives, power system design, hydroelectric systems, and power system harmonics assessment. The first year consists of two four-month foundation terms common to the college's electrical and electronic technology programs, after which students choose a second-year specialization: Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronic Engineering Technology, or Instrumentation and Control Engineering Technology. Co-op work experience is optional in the first year, and in the second year students choose between a co-op placement or an Engineering Technology Report. The program is nationally accredited and internationally recognized, and Red River College Polytechnic offers credit-transfer opportunities with Lakehead University, the University of Manitoba, and the University of Victoria. It is delivered full-time and on campus at the Exchange District and Notre Dame campuses in Winnipeg.
