Program details

Overview

The Veterinary Technology diploma prepares students for careers as registered veterinary technologists supporting companion-animal and livestock practices. Over two years at the Notre Dame Campus in Winnipeg, students build skills in anesthesia induction and monitoring, drug dosage calculations, surgical and animal nursing, laboratory testing, diagnostic imaging, dentistry, emergency care, and routine veterinary clinic and office procedures. Laboratory coursework gives students hands-on experience with a range of species, including horses, cattle, swine, chickens, ferrets, rats, mice, dogs, and cats, building the technical and animal-handling competence required in clinical settings. The program includes a practicum placement that lets students apply classroom and lab learning under supervision in a working veterinary environment. Graduates are equipped to work alongside veterinarians in general practice, specialty, and emergency clinics, performing diagnostic, surgical-support, and patient-care duties across a broad range of species.
