Program details
Overview
This program leads to a Master of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering at the Royal Military College of Canada, offered by the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. It is a thesis-based graduate degree normally comprised of five term courses at the graduate level plus a thesis, normally completed over two academic years including the intervening summer when pursued full-time. Coursework and research areas include advanced engineering data analysis, fluid dynamics, boundary layer theory, biomechanics of human movement, convective heat transfer, stress analysis and fatigue of composite and advanced materials, mechanical vibration, advanced finite element analysis, tribology, combustion processes, and nonlinear systems and control. All students must complete a zero-credit academic integrity course (AI500) by the end of their first term. The department maintains experimental facilities supporting graduate research, and the program is delivered on campus at RMC's Kingston site and open to both military and civilian applicants seeking thesis-based research training in mechanical engineering.
