General Business Studies is a Bachelor of Commerce major at the Sobey School of Business, Saint Mary's University, that lets students customize their degree while maintaining a focus on business. After completing core business requirements, students select courses across areas such as accounting, marketing, economics, and finance to build a program suited to their interests. The major develops competencies in communication, information literacy, critical thinking, teamwork, ethics, and social responsibility, alongside core business knowledge. It suits students who want broad exposure to business disciplines rather than a single functional specialization, or who are undecided about which area of business to focus on and want to sample several before committing to a narrower path. Graduates are prepared for a range of entry-level business roles or further study, having built a flexible foundation across the core areas of commerce.
