Overview
The Certificate in Sustainability Business is completed alongside a Bachelor of Commerce degree at Saint Mary's University, giving students an interdisciplinary grounding in business and sustainability. Students complete BCOM 1201, Exploring Sustainability, as a mandatory course, plus five elective courses chosen from four focus areas: responsible business, solidarity, ecosphere, and humanity. Coursework includes experiential learning activities in which students work on real-world sustainability challenges. The certificate is open to both new and current Bachelor of Commerce students; new students apply for the certificate together with their BComm application, while current students apply through the BComm Academic Success and Advising Centre. The certificate is completed in conjunction with the Bachelor of Commerce program rather than as a stand-alone credential, and questions can be directed to the Advising Centre.
