Overview
Hospitality Management is a two-year diploma offered by Saskatchewan Polytechnic at its Regina campus, running 68 weeks with a September intake. The program builds core management skills for the hospitality industry, with a particular focus on hotel and restaurant operations. Students gain hands-on experience across accounting, human resources, sales and marketing, catering and convention management, cooking and food preparation, food and beverage service, and hotel front office and housekeeping operations. The curriculum combines classroom instruction with applied training designed to prepare graduates for supervisory and management roles across hotels, resorts, restaurants, casinos, convention centres and similar hospitality settings. Admission follows Saskatchewan Polytechnic's First Qualified/First Admitted process, with applications opening September 1 each year. This program is the renamed successor to the Hotel and Restaurant Management diploma, effective September 2024.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission requires Grade 12 completion, Saskatchewan Polytechnic's English Language Requirement, and a minimum age of 18 years as of August 15 in the year of admission. Applicants who do not hold Grade 12 may qualify through an alternate admission assessment using ACCUPLACER scores of 250 in Arithmetic, 250 in Reading, 245 in Writing and 4 on the Writeplacer, or with 15 approved post-secondary credits in place of Grade 12. Admission follows the First Qualified/First Admitted process, with applications opening September 1 each year. Accepted international students require a co-op work permit to complete the program's mandatory practicum component; students without a co-op work permit will not be allowed to participate.
