Overview

This diploma suits learners drawn to a dual challenge: working outdoors amid B.C.'s rugged terrain and finding modern solutions to present-day forest management issues. Upon graduation, students become eligible to enrol with the Association of BC Forest Professionals as Registered Forest Technologists.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Entry requires Foundations of Mathematics 11 at 67% or better, a BC Grade 11 or 12 science course with a lab component at 67% or better, and English Studies 12, English First Peoples 12, or ENGL 60 at 67% or better; Grade 12 students may gain provisional acceptance on proof of registration in these courses, with completion required by July 31 before the Fall term starts. No IELTS, TOEFL or other English-proficiency score is published. Basic computer competency with word-processing, spreadsheet and web-browsing software is strongly recommended, and applicants should be in good health and physical condition, since fieldwork involves walking, hiking and snowshoeing outdoors for up to eight hours a day in varying weather; a Class 5 driver's licence is recommended but not required. A complete application needs the application form and fee plus official high school and post-secondary transcripts, or proof of registration for Grade 12 applicants. The diploma runs a single Fall intake.
