Overview
The Office Administration and Technology: Office Assistant Certificate teaches you proficient touch typing, accounting fundamentals and practices, up-to-date productivity software such as Word and Excel, interpersonal and professional communication skills, customer service techniques, professional document production, employability skills, personal and office organization, team building skills, and professionalism. Students that complete the six-month Office Assistant Certificate may continue on to complete the Advanced Bookkeeping Certificate.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: In addition to Selkirk College's general admission standard, this certificate requires English Studies 11 with a minimum of 60% or equivalent, and any Math 10 (or equivalent) with a minimum of 60%. International applicants must present an IELTS Academic score of 6.0 overall with no band below 5.5, or an equivalent score on another recognized English-proficiency test. Applicants not meeting these minimums may instead complete the College Readiness Tool to confirm their required math and English levels, and an in-person or telephone interview with the program coordinator may be required before entry; entry can be limited by admission requirements, space, and completion of any pre-admission assessment. The full-time program starts every September and completes in February, and a part-time entry is also offered in January, with those courses finishing at the end of February before resuming in September.
