Overview
The Music and Technology - Contemporary - Advanced Diploma is the third year option for the Music and Technology Program. A diverse cross-section of musical styles is offered allowing students to explore the best that each genre has to offer from rock and blues, to jazz, folk and world music. Develop your skills in performance, improvisation, songwriting, composition, film scoring, recording and live sound mixing.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Beyond Selkirk College's general admission requirements under Policy 8611, section 5.1, this Advanced Diploma is open only to graduates of Selkirk's own Contemporary Music and Technology diploma, or to applicants with comparable music education equivalent to two years of post-secondary credit from another institution. Applicants who did not complete Selkirk's diploma must demonstrate competency with the program's digital-audio software, currently Pro Tools, and supply a recording or video that clearly shows their ability on their instrument. A complete file needs an application form, official transcripts covering at least two years of post-secondary music study, completion of the College Readiness Tool, and a completed applicant questionnaire. No IELTS, TOEFL or other English-proficiency score is published. Applications are due April 30 ahead of the single annual Fall intake, though late applications may be accepted with the School Chair's permission; the program does not admit part-time students.
