Program details

Overview

This diploma offers fully transferable university coursework in arts and sciences to match individual interests and degree plans, taken one course at a time or as a full two years' worth of credits, with transfer available into university degree programs of three or four years' length within BC, across Canada, or abroad. Completed courses or the full program can lead into university degrees such as the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Fine Arts, and Bachelor of Science, engineering included.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Beyond Selkirk College's general admission standard (a BC senior secondary diploma or equivalent, or 19 years of age or older), this University Arts and Sciences program requires at least 60% in English Studies 12 or equivalent; applicants who fall short must instead sit the college's Language Proficiency Index (LPI) test and reach a minimum of level 4. French 102, Spanish 102, and English 51 are exempt from the English Studies 12 prerequisite. Students whose first language is not English must separately satisfy the college's English-language-proficiency requirement under Policy 8611; no specific IELTS or TOEFL score is published on the program page. Mature students must meet the same English 12 standard plus any additional course requirements set out in the college calendar. Applicants missing the standard prerequisites may still be admitted by combining Academic Upgrading with first-year university courses, though this can extend the program length. Intake is offered in Fall, Winter, and Spring.
