Overview

The Administrative Assistant Advanced Certificate builds on Selkirk College's Office Administration and Technology Certificate, extending it with advanced office-administration skills. Coursework focuses on professional communication, accounting principles, workplace technology applications, customer service, legal responsibilities in the workplace and professional conduct, preparing graduates for higher-level administrative and office-support roles. The programme runs in Fall, Winter and Spring intakes and lets students who already hold the Office Assistant Specialty certificate progress directly into more advanced coursework. Students must complete all requirements within two years of entering the programme and reach a cumulative grade point average of 2.67 to graduate, with an Honours designation available for a 3.67 GPA and no grade below B-. An interview with the program coordinator may form part of admission, and applicants may be admitted up to the end of the first week of classes where space allows.
