The General Studies Associate of Arts Degree is a two-year, 60-credit university-transfer credential at Selkirk College's Castlegar campus designed to build university-level skills in critical thinking, speaking, reading, writing and research while introducing students to the social sciences and humanities. The flexible course selection lets students sample multiple arts and social-science disciplines before choosing a specialization. Delivered on campus across four terms with intakes in Fall, Winter and Spring, the associate degree is a formally established, province-wide-recognized credential. Graduation requires completion of 60 credits of university-level study in selected areas with an overall GPA of 2.0. The degree is a pathway to Bachelor of Arts programs and to careers in the arts, social-science professions, communications and teaching at all levels; students continuing to another institution should confirm course transferability through the BC Transfer Guide.
