Honours Bachelor of Science - Nursing (Fast track) (Hybrid) is a bachelor's degree in Nursing programme offered by Seneca Polytechnic in Toronto, Canada. The programme runs for 8 semesters, delivered on campus. Teaching is in English. Tuition for international students is CAD 11,054 per semester (CAD 3,177 per semester for local students).
After successful completion of the program, graduates will earn a BScN credential and are required to meet the Entry to Practice Competencies for nursing practice in Ontario. For a student to obtain these competencies during their educational program, certain skills and abilities are required. It is important that you are aware of these prior to applying for admission to the nursing program. Review these requirements: Requisite Skills and Abilities for Nursing Practice in Ontario.
Requirements
Minimum GPA:75.00 / %
Admission Requirements: DOMESTIC ACADEMIC ENTRY: an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent including six Grade 12 U or M courses with an overall average of at least 75%, or mature-applicant status. Four core courses must each be finished with a final grade of 75% or higher: Grade 12 English (ENG4U), any Grade 12 U mathematics, Grade 12 Biology (SBI4U) and Grade 12 Chemistry (SCH4U). The other two Grade 12 U/M courses need at least 60% each.
Before clinical practicum you need a completed Clinical Preparedness Permit. Medical side: immunisation records matching the Canadian Immunization Guide for health-care workers, bloodwork showing immune status for hepatitis B, varicella, measles, mumps and rubella, and TB testing or a chest X-ray where required. Non-medical side: a Basic Life Support certificate renewed each year, Standard First Aid valid for four years (online courses are not accepted), a mask fit-test record renewed every two years, and a criminal record check with vulnerable sector screening renewed annually. A current criminal record check and vulnerable sector screening from a recognised police service is required before any clinical, practicum or work placement. An outstanding charge or an unpardoned conviction bars placement, and because placement is needed to progress, Seneca counsels affected students to withdraw. Greater Toronto Area placements can run six, 10 or 12 hours, some beginning at 6 a.m., and evenings and weekends are possible; students provide their own transport.
International applicants must present credentials assessed as equivalent to the Ontario prerequisites above - including six senior courses equivalent to Ontario university-preparatory credits at a 65% overall average - and meet Seneca's degree-level English standard: IELTS Academic 6.5 with no skill under 6.0, PTE Academic 60, CAEL 70 with writing no lower than 60, Duolingo 115-120, Cambridge English 176 with no skill under 169, or TOEFL iBT with no skill under 4.5/6 (21/30). Tests must be less than two years old.
