Cert in Independent Music Production (Hybrid) is a certificate in Music programme taught at Seneca Polytechnic in Toronto, Canada. The programme runs for 2 semesters, delivered on campus. Teaching is in English. Tuition for international students is CAD 10,298 per semester (CAD 3,377 per semester for local students).
The hands-on curriculum is built to prepare students to take on several roles at once in music work, from writing and performing to producing their own material and marketing and promoting it themselves. Students build practical experience recording in a home-studio setting, producing and distributing music, and writing and arranging songs.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission is open to holders of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or the equivalent, or to mature applicants, with English at the Grade 12 C or U level, or an equivalent course, as the named subject prerequisite; Canadian citizens and permanent residents short of it may instead pass Seneca's own pre-admission test, with upgrading available for other gaps. Applicants must also submit a music demo: one MP3 of an original composition or cover, with credits for composer, performer, producer and engineer, and disclosure of any AI use; the program states it evaluates creativity and production potential rather than recording quality. The page names no international English-test score and instead defers to Seneca's general admission requirements: Seneca applies its institution-wide English-proficiency policy: applicants who cannot show at least three years of full-time secondary school, or two full-time years of college or university study, in a country where English is an official or the common language, must meet the score Seneca sets on its own English-requirements page, which this program page references but does not restate.
