Overview
The Honours Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) is a four-year honours baccalaureate degree offered at Sheridan College's Davis Campus in Brampton, accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board, the first such accreditation for an Ontario college mechanical engineering program. Students work with 3D printers, robotics, rapid prototyping, integrated renewable energy systems, HVAC systems, water-jet technology and mechatronics equipment in labs designed to reflect industry settings, including the college's Centre for Intelligent Manufacturing. In years three and four, students specialize in either an energy stream, focused on sustainable generation, distribution and use of energy, or a mechatronics stream, focused on mechanical, electrical, computer and control engineering problems; both streams share a common foundation in mathematics, sciences and core mechanical engineering courses. Each year, students work on a single project spanning their courses, intended to show how individual subjects connect within a larger engineering problem. The program includes a mandatory four-month internship after second year and an optional co-op stream adding work terms after years three and four, for up to twelve months of combined industry experience. It suits students seeking an accredited, project-based mechanical engineering degree with a choice between energy and mechatronics specializations.

Admission Requirements: Entry requires an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent including Grade 12 English (ENG4U), Grade 12 (U) Physics or Chemistry, Grade 12 Advanced Functions (MHF4U) and Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U), plus two further Grade 12 U or M credits, all at a minimum 70% overall average; two semesters of postsecondary study covering the same courses at 70% overall is accepted instead. Applicants whose first language is not English must meet Sheridan's institution-wide English Proficiency Requirement for degree programs: IELTS Academic 6.5 (no band below 6.0), TOEFL iBT 88 (no section below 21), PTE 60 (no section below 57), or Duolingo 115 (no subscore below 95); the programme page separately names Duolingo, IELTS Academic and TOEFL iBT as the tests used for its English for Academic Purposes placement. A Sheridan Degree Entrance Scholarship is available to eligible applicants meeting the college's admission-average criteria.

Application Deadline:Domestic applicants apply through ontariocolleges.ca: for programmes starting in Fall 2027 the application opened 26 September 2026, the equal-consideration date is 1 February 2027, and offers can go out from 1 November 2026, with portfolio- and audition-based programmes deciding later in March; accepted offers must be confirmed by 1 May 2027. Winter and Spring/Summer 2027 entry use the same portal but Sheridan publishes no fixed equal-consideration date for them and reviews those on an ongoing basis. International applicants apply directly through Sheridan's own International Application Portal, not ontariocolleges.ca; the college publishes no fixed international deadline and admits on a rolling, space-permitting basis, so early application is advised for the 2027 entry cycle. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
