BA/BS in Chemistry and Earth Sciences

Chemistry and Earth Sciences is a joint major Bachelor of Science offered jointly by the Department of Chemistry and the Department of Earth Sciences in SFU's Faculty of Science, for students who want to study environmental geoscience and geology alongside a grounding in the physical sciences. The programme requires a minimum of 126 units in total, including at least 41 units of core upper-division coursework from the two departments, with the overall upper-division total reaching a minimum of 44 units once electives are included. Entry to the joint major requires the permission of both departments, and students must obtain at least a C- grade in prerequisite courses to continue into further chemistry and earth sciences coursework. The joint major is intended for students who want a combined grounding in geology, mineralogy and environmental geoscience together with core chemistry training.
