Offered by Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, Canada, Chemistry: Master of Science (MSc) is a master's degree in Chemistry programme. The programme runs for 2 years, delivered on campus. Teaching is in English. Tuition for international students is CAD 2,193 per semester (CAD 2,193 per semester for local students).
SFU's MSc in Chemistry combines graduate coursework with original laboratory research, serving both as an advanced credential in its own right and as preparation for doctoral study. Requirements include a student seminar discussing recent chemistry literature, a research review and evaluation course, a lecture series in chemistry research taken twice, further graduate chemistry units and a defended MSc thesis. A supervisory committee forms before the end of the second term and meets annually thereafter, and students must attend the great majority of weekly departmental seminars to remain in good standing. Completion is expected within six terms. Thesis topics may lie in chemistry or chemical education, and departmental NMR, mass spectrometry and specialised laboratory facilities support the work.
