Overview

Communication and Interactive Arts and Technology is a joint major offered jointly by the School of Communication and the School of Interactive Arts and Technology within the Faculty of Communication, Art and Technology at Simon Fraser University. Students may complete the program as a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science. The curriculum combines technical training in new media, design and interactive systems with communication theory covering how information is created, coded, communicated and controlled, drawing on both traditional and new media. Course entry to program courses requires a grade of C- or better in each prerequisite course, and students must maintain a 2.4 grade point average in their Interactive Arts and Technology courses to remain in the program. At least half of the program's total units, and at least two-thirds of its upper-division units, must be completed through study at Simon Fraser University.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Admission to the Communication and Interactive Arts and Technology joint major follows Simon Fraser University's general Faculty of Communication, Art and Technology admission requirements; applicants apply for direct entry to SFU as with any other program. Once admitted to the joint major, students must earn a grade of C- or better in each prerequisite course for Communication and Interactive Arts and Technology courses, and must maintain a cumulative 2.4 grade point average in their Interactive Arts and Technology coursework to remain in good standing. At least half of the program's total course units, and at least two-thirds of its upper-division units, must be completed at Simon Fraser University.
