Biological Sciences: Master of Science (MSc)

Admission Requirements: Admission requires completion of a bachelor's degree from a recognized university with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.33 (B), evidence of the ability to carry out advanced studies, and a commitment from an SFU Biological Sciences faculty member willing to supervise the applicant's research before an offer can be made. Non-native English speakers must meet SFU's institution-wide graduate English-language requirement — IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with at least 6.0 in each band, or TOEFL iBT 90 overall with at least 20 per section (PTE Academic 65/60, CAEL 70/60, and Duolingo 125/105 also accepted). The MSc requires a minimum of 30 units — 12 units of coursework, including a mandatory skills course, plus an 18-unit thesis — and is normally completed in under three years.
