Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at Trent University is a Bachelor of Science (General) program providing a foundation in the chemistry of biological systems. It combines the study of analytical, organic, inorganic, and physical chemistry with biochemistry, molecular biology, and cell physiology, giving students a detailed understanding of the processes that control and mediate health, illness, reproduction, growth, and life itself. Honours research projects introduce students to modern methods in protein chemistry, bioengineering, and molecular biology. The program is delivered as an integrated sequence of courses jointly offered by the Departments of Biology and Chemistry, drawing on calendar course entries from both departments. Students who wish to transfer into a single-major program in Biology or Chemistry instead are advised to consult the chair of the relevant department once they have completed 8.0 to 10.0 credits.
