Overview

The Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Artificial Intelligence & Software Development is a four-term program offered at Trent University's Durham GTA campus to graduates who hold an undergraduate degree from an accredited university, aimed at building computer science knowledge and skills. The program covers fundamental concepts and methodologies in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and human-computer interaction and their applications in areas including information systems and finance, alongside the history, social and political impacts, ethics, privacy, bias, and limitations of AI. Coursework also spans programming, data science, information systems, software design and modelling, web development, and professionalism and ethics, introducing students to nine programming languages. The certificate consists of 9.0 credits: 5.0 credits in Applied Artificial Intelligence (AIST) and 4.0 credits in Computing & Information Systems (COIS). A minimum cumulative average of 60% is required to graduate with the certificate. The program is available full-time to domestic and international students and part-time to domestic students only. Students who hold a Trent University undergraduate degree may apply up to 1.0 credit toward the certificate.
