Overview

Indigenous Environmental Science at Trent University (Bachelor of Science, General) is an interdisciplinary program offered jointly by the School of the Environment and the Chanie Wenjack School for Indigenous Studies. It combines Indigenous knowledge with Western scientific approaches, developing critical and integrative thinking skills that students apply to environmental problems affecting Indigenous communities. Coursework draws on both environmental science and Indigenous studies perspectives, preparing graduates to work across scientific and community-based contexts. Indigenous applicants are encouraged to contact the Aboriginal Enrolment Advisor in the First Peoples House of Learning for admission guidance specific to this program. Some courses in the program carry a small additional fee to cover field trips.
