This 30-credit certificate is described as the only private-security training recognized by Quebec's Minister of Public Security, and completion allows graduates to apply for an investigation agent permit from the Bureau of Private Security, subject to meeting the Private Security Act's other criteria. Coursework covers the legislative and regulatory framework governing investigations, civil, administrative, and penal investigation law, interview techniques, searches and seizures, forensic science, and an integrative activity built around case studies. The programme is offered full-time or part-time, with day, evening, and weekend courses at the Montreal and Laval campuses. It is delivered by the Faculty of Continuing Education and prepares graduates for careers as private investigators, security agents, municipal inspectors, insurance claims investigators, or government investigators.
