The Doctorat en informatique is a 90-credit research doctorate at Universite de Montreal, offered full-time or part-time with day classes. Students carry out original, supervised research in computer science, with active research areas spanning artificial intelligence, machine learning and quantum computing among other fields, leading to a doctoral thesis. The program guarantees funding for all admitted candidates. Applicants lacking a computer science background may be required to complete up to 6 credits of complementary coursework before or alongside their doctoral studies. Admission requires prior confirmation of supervision from a qualified professor before the candidate can be admitted to the program, and the required supervision-consent document must state the planned financial arrangement. New students are admitted in the summer, fall and winter terms.
