Université de Saint-Boniface's Diplôme en éducation de la jeune enfance is a two-year college diploma that develops the knowledge and competencies to work in early learning and child care centres, supporting child development from infancy through age twelve. Students study physical, social, emotional, intellectual, and language development through classroom instruction, laboratory work, and four mandatory practicum placements over the two years, one per session, in care centres. Theoretical courses are delivered in a hybrid, bimodal format for students outside Winnipeg, while practicum placements take place in person at care centres. Graduates receive a College Diploma and are classified as Early Childhood Educator Level II (EJE II) under Manitoba's Child Care Act. A workplace-based pathway is available for students already employed full-time in an authorized Manitoba care centre with at least one year of experience. It suits students seeking a recognized credential to work in Manitoba's licensed child care sector.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Canadian citizens and permanent residents need a Manitoba secondary school diploma (or an accepted equivalent from another Canadian province or territory) with passing grades in French 40S and English 40S. Applicants educated outside Canada need a secondary diploma equivalent to the Canadian standard and must meet both the French and English language requirements; the English requirement is met by IELTS Academic 5.5, TOEFL iBT 46–59, completion of English 40S in a Manitoba secondary school, or a minimum grade of B in USB's AN 002/ENGL 0021 course, with all applicants in the regular program also required to complete AN 106 and AN 107 (English as a Second Language) in year one. A separate workplace pathway is available for applicants already working full-time in an authorized Manitoba care centre, with no English language requirement.
