This Certificate in Physics is a 30-credit undergraduate program offered at the Universite de Sherbrooke's Departement de physique, on a full-time or part-time basis, with admission in the fall and winter terms at the Sherbrooke campus. It gives students foundational knowledge across the main fields of physics so they can pursue specialized first-cycle studies afterward. Twenty-four mandatory credits cover vector calculus, mechanics, relativity and modern physics, mathematical physics, wave phenomena, electricity and magnetism, a first physics lab course, and the history of the natural sciences and mathematics. Six optional credits are chosen from linear algebra (standard or applied to computing), scientific computing in Python, optics, quantum mechanics, statistical physics, a second physics lab course, or an introduction to astrophysical observation. Admission is reserved for students already active in one of the Universite de Sherbrooke's bachelor's programs who wish to include this certificate as a component of their program. The program is open to admission for international students in the regular course of study.
