Overview
This Certificate in Addiction Intervention is a 30-credit undergraduate program offered at the Université de Sherbrooke, available at the Sherbrooke and Longueuil campuses or through self-paced distance study, with admission in the fall and winter terms on a full-time or part-time basis. It provides contemporary theoretical and practical foundations for intervening in addiction, and can be completed with or without a practicum. The program admits between 100 and 200 new students per year, mainly from health, social services, public safety and education backgrounds, who share an interest in developing core addiction-intervention competencies. It is aimed at people already working in the field or wishing to enter it, whether in prevention or rehabilitation settings. The program is open to admission for international students in the regular course of study.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission follows the Université de Sherbrooke's general first-cycle admission condition set out in the Règlement des études. Applicants who do not meet the general condition may be admitted on the basis of satisfactory preparation if they have completed at least 30 university credits, or if they ended or interrupted their secondary studies at least four years ago and hold a secondary school diploma or its equivalent, accompanied by a curriculum vitae, two letters of recommendation and a letter of motivation. All students need a very good command of French to succeed in the program, and a good command of English to consult scientific and professional publications available only in English.
