This Certificate in Physical Activity Sciences Applied to Sports Training is a 30-credit undergraduate program offered at the Universite de Sherbrooke's Faculte des sciences de l'activite physique, on a full-time basis, with admission in the fall term at the Sherbrooke campus. All 30 credits are mandatory and cover learning methods, a two-part reflective portfolio, an integration seminar, applied nutrition for sport and health, an introduction to sport psychology, functional anatomy and muscle work, physiology and training and recovery, muscular-balance development, innovative training methods, and communication in sports coaching; several of these courses must be taken in the first term. The program is designed for students with a regular, significant athletic practice, helping them combine university studies with a sporting career by building knowledge of the body, nutrition, psychology and training, and developing effective personal-learning and career-planning strategies alongside critical thinking about popular claims in the physical-activity field.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Admission follows the Universite de Sherbrooke's general first-cycle admission condition set out in the Reglement des etudes, and applicants must demonstrate a regular and significant athletic practice. Candidates who do not meet the general admission condition may exceptionally be admitted if, at the start of their studies, they have held a Quebec secondary school diploma (DES) or equivalent for at least four years, have at least two years of full-time labour-market experience, and combine this with school or non-school learning recognized under the university's prior-learning policy. Candidates who studied outside Quebec or in a language other than French, and who have not passed the Epreuve uniforme de francais (EUL), must complete an interview. Required admission documents are listed on the program's linked document page. The program is offered on a full-time basis at the Sherbrooke campus, with admission in the fall term, and is open to admission for international students in the regular course of study.
