The Master's in Physical Activity Sciences (Maitrise en sciences de l'activite physique) is a 45-credit, thesis-based research program at Universite de Sherbrooke's Campus principal in Sherbrooke. It develops research competencies in human movement, motor learning and the interventions that support or hinder it across different practice settings. The 32-credit core covers research methods, scientific communication, theoretical and methodological grounding, a final thesis presentation and a 24-credit thesis (memoire). Elective credits (4 to 8) introduce and apply statistical or qualitative and mixed research methods, and remaining elective credits are chosen from relevant graduate-level coursework approved by the program. Graduates learn to conduct a supervised research project rigorously, apply advanced knowledge and documentary resources, master research techniques specific to physical activity sciences, communicate results clearly, and apply ethical and professional standards in the field. The program is full-time only and admits students at the fall, winter and summer terms.
