The Doctorate in Education (Ph.D.) at Universite de Sherbrooke is a 90-credit research doctorate offered on the Sherbrooke and Longueuil campuses, with admission in fall, winter and summer terms. It trains researchers to engage autonomously and collaboratively with the interplay of research, training and practice across fields such as education and work, career counselling, school-organization management, educational intervention, social adaptation difficulties, subject-area didactics, professional expertise, vocational training and higher-education pedagogy. The 84 mandatory credits include courses on the research-training-practice interrelationship, research methodology, two research seminars, two rounds of directed work, professional-development activities, and a comprehensive examination, leading to a doctoral dissertation. Students are expected to define a research problem within their disciplinary field, critically analyze methodological approaches, and produce knowledge that contributes to resolving problems encountered in diverse settings.
