The Qualifying Master's in Secondary Education (Maitrise qualifiante en enseignement au secondaire) is a 45-credit, part-time, second-cycle programme at the Universite de Sherbrooke, delivered entirely at a distance, leading to the Master of Education and, on completion, the Quebec teaching licence. It deepens students' knowledge of psychopedagogy, initiates specialization in the didactics of one or more teaching subjects, and develops professional competencies built on candidates' existing teaching experience, including systematic analysis of professional practice and intervention methods in the school setting. Coursework addresses the thirteen professional competencies in Quebec's teaching-profession competency framework, covering lesson planning and delivery, assessment, classroom management, attention to student diversity, family and community collaboration, digital-technology use, ongoing professional development, and ethical practice.
